COMPRESSION STRESS RELAXATION ISO 3384 ASTM D 6147
The compression stress relaxation tests are used to assesses the force decay upon rubber in various conditions. The ISO 3384 and ASTM D6147 testing standards cover two differing methods viz., Method A and B, for determining the decrease in counterforce exerted by a test specimen which has been compressed under controlled conditions at a constant strain. This method covers testing in both air and liquids under elevated or sub zero temperatures.
Types of engineering products generally tested using this method;
- Seals
- Gaskets
- O-Rings
- Parts operating under compression loading for extended period of time
